Jason Arkles is a sculptor and art historian living in Florence. He is the creator and host of “The Sculptor’s Funeral”, a popular podcast focused on the history of figurative sculpture. He is a regular lecturer at The Florence Academy of Art, as well as other academies in Florence. In his own work, Jason specialized on portraiture, both marble, which he carves himself by hand, and in terracotta, which he fires in his studio in the center of Florence.
His personal work tends toward narrative and character studies, with an interest in myth and religion. His professional specialties are portraiture and sacred art. Additionally, Jason likes to pursue allegory and narrative in his work, usually with an eye towards social criticism.
