About

“Inside the Studio” takes us on a technical grand tour through some artists’ studios of the past as well as the unique and contemporary methods our faculty members have used to create the studios they work in today. Additionally, they give unique insights and share their opinions on the most important aspects that an artist looking to make their own studio space should consider.

Based on photographs and details we can gather through their artworks, you will be able to see the context in which the works of artists such as Vasari, Rembrandt, Sargent, and Sorolla made their paintings. When it comes to setting up a study today, Florence is a historically great place to find a space since it has housed artists for hundreds of years and has many buildings particularly designed the needs of a painter. From the comfort of your home you will be able to travel through and gain an intimate understanding of the choices made in designing the studios of Assistant Director of the FAA Tom Richards, Advanced Painting Director Ramiro Sanchez, and Advanced Painting principal instructors Tanvi Pathare, Vitaliy Shtanko, and Nicholas Chaundy, all located in different types of spaces in Florence, Italy.

With the new year looming and many artists recently graduating from their various programs to begin their careers outside of school, this lecture is full of important technical and practical ways to create a space to work in that is specific to the needs and desires of the painter!
