Biography

Nikola Hrga is an Australian painter based in London, UK.

He completed his drawing and painting studies at the Florence Academy of Art in New Jersey, USA, from 2018 to 2020, where he was a scholarship- and prize-awarded student before later becoming an instructor. He holds an MFA from the City & Guilds of London Art School, completed from 2022 to 2023. He serves as Adjunct Professor on the MFA program faculty at the Florence Academy of Art and as an instructor with the Juliette Aristides Atelier.

His practice balances realism with an impressionistic and subtly abstracted approach. Combining traditional technical skill with a contemporary sensibility, he seeks to distil the essential qualities of his surroundings and experiences through paint. His work invites perception and cognition to unfold gradually for the viewer, aiming to spark an associative response that each person can carry individually.

Nikola has exhibited work in London, New York, and Australia, and his paintings are held in numerous private collections.
